Dr. Shafiq went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Toledo. He then attended Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, where he completed his Master’s Degree in Translational Research and Clinical Investigation. He also completed an NIH Hypertension and Cardiovascular Endocrinology Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Dr. Shafiq returned to The University of Toledo to complete his Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and his Fellowship in Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine.

He served as Assistant Professor of medicine in the cardiovascular division at the University of Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Shafiq is also a certified Clinical Hypertension Specialist. He is passionate about research and contributing to educational and medical advances. Currently, Dr. Shafiq is associated with various Beaumont and Henry Ford Hospitals.

During Dr. Shafiq’s free time, he enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with his family. His favorite travel destination is the North Pakistan Mountains, and he enjoys playing chess and listening to music. Dr. Shafiq pursued a career in medicine because of his passion for helping and caring for others, along with his interest in human biology. He wants his patients to know that he always puts their interests first.
